Dum Spiro, Spero (While I breathe, I HOPE)
Sometimes
life can be full of twists and turns. We are often bombarded of things way
beyond our capacity. But still, we smile in every hurt, rise in every downfall,
and confront every challenge with utmost courage. What is common to all of this
is HOPE. Yes, you've heard that right, its HOPE.
Remember
when Pandora, opened that box, which contained all the evils of the world. The
entire contents of the box were released, but for one, HOPE. It signifies that
opening Pandora's Box means to create evil that cannot be undone. What does
this entails? It simply shows that for everything created, an outcome is
expected. Evil strike at any given time and place but when we are overcome by
it, we tend to evade, act as if we are useless rather than facing such turmoil.
The fact of the matter is "we lack HOPE."
"Hope
never abandons you; you abandon it"
- George
Weinberq
HOPE is
an important aspect which embodies three important values in every person.
First is FAITH. Faith to the Lord that for every trial we face, we must always
remember that it's given for a purpose, an avenue for growth and a chance to
change for the better. Faith to our strength, our ability and the support
system, the people around us that will help us mold our persona and scold if
the condition warrants it. We are not given trials of which we can't handle.
Treat every trial as an inspiration and an opportunity. In every truth are lies
under it, but behind every lies are facts that are waiting to unveil.
"What
seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise"
- Oscar
Wilde
The next
value of HOPE is LOVE. Love others as we love ourselves. We all know that love
comes in different ways, spoken in different tongues and showcased in different
manners but all of these have its common denominator, and that is to protect
oneself and others as well. If we love something or someone, we tend to pursue
for it. Without HOPE, in the form of love, then we could easily say its
superficial, an immature form of love or just infatuation per se. To love,
despite all of the sufferings encountered, we still pursue for it, an
unwavering, cunning and never-ending form of love. Such form embodies our HOPE
to overcome everything in the quest of gaining something.
"Hope
begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do
the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't
give up."
- Anne
Lamott
And the
final value would be COURAGE. If we are tainted by fears and doubts, we tend to
turn our backs away from what is perceived. We always look for our comfort zone
because we are afraid to get hurt and fall. But mind you, learning by
experience especially from our own mistake is a gift that cannot be taken away
from us. Being coward is like shutting our minds away from such experience. A
state of vulnerability we often blame to others where in fact it is of our own
doing. The best way to face it all is by having just the right amount of
courage paired with our undying HOPE. The expense of being hurt and failing is
an experience unlike no other. It will teach us things outside the norms of our
four-walled institution. It will not just teach something but it will show to
us the reality of life. That it is not always perfect or turns
out to
what we expect it to be. But for every failure and shortcomings, as long as we
have the courage to stand, then everything will eventually fall to its proper
place.
"Hope
arouses, as nothing else can arouse, a passion for the possible."
- William
Sloan Coffin
